My Toshiba laptop running win XP, has a problem. When I go to Start, and then Search., I have the companion ( dog) sitting there wagging his tail awaiting instructions. The bubble above his head is now just a single white line which cannot be expanded,to give me the options of typing in a file name to run a search of the hard drive. I have tried restoring this to one week earlier when I knew it work, and nothing is there I have even taken it back to January and still no options. Can somone tell me how I can get this back without having to do a full recovery
Many thanks to who ever can help me

Gladys

Reinstall the search companion files:
Go to start > Run > copy and paste this line:

rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %systemroot%\inf\srchasst.inf

You will need the XP CD

Good luck
