Inside of Explorer (file manager), I attempted to run a
SEARCH (ctrl-F). An error message popped up. Something
like:

A file that Search Companion needs to run could not be
found; you may need to run Setup

Nothing else. How does one run Setup?
Is there anything else I should know about this?

Thanks.

Jason,

Thanks for the response.

I already have SP1 and as far as I know, I'm up to date
on the Windows updates.
Any other ideas?
Isn't there some place where I can just download the
msgr3en.dll file?
Or any suggestions on where on the Windows XP Pro CD I
can find it? I think I went through every folder on it,
with no success.

Get Windows XP SP1.
Also get all the Windows updates that are available.

Actually,
How can I confirm that I have SP1 installed?
Thanks.

Fred,

Sorry for posting to the newsgroup but it looks like you
don't post an easy-to-decipher email address; hope you
find this.

Thank you for your answers (although editing registries
makes me anxious). Fortunately, my search feature
magically re-appeared. And I have determined that I don't
yet have SP1 *installed* although it is on my computer.
Thanks.

Hi, glad you were able to get your Search back. The 'fix' I gave you
from Kelly's Korner is a vbs script that does the registry work for you
and requires nothing more than clicking 'Yes' Might be a good idea to
keep that site in your favorites in case the problem reoccurs.
Not quite sure why you have SP1 on your computer but not installed, but
you might try downloading and installing it again ... see
