I used to be able to do a search and replace on a paragraph mark, using ^v,
but it no longer works.
Is there anything more that I need to do?

I open the find dialog box. I click on the More button and special button.
I select 'Paragraph Character' and I got ^v I was supposed to get ^p.
How come?

Maybe Arne meant that he can't paste a paragraph mark (or an actual pilcrow)
in using Ctrl+V. If he selected a paragraph mark and copied, then indeed
Ctrl+V will have no effect. A pilcrow (¶) can be pasted in Word 2003, but
ISTR that in some earlier versions it could not.

Okay, I hadn't noticed these new additions to the Special Characters list
(the section symbol is another). What the ^v searches for is literally a
paragraph character (pilcrow or ¶), not a "paragraph mark" (which is the
first item in the list).
