Scrolling Problems

Hi, I need help

My scrolling function when I browse the web has slowed
down drastically. It has become really sluggish. Eg. A web
page that is really long, when I scroll down on the right
using my scroll bar (even when the bar is small -
signifying a long page). It used to be really fast, now it
has become really frustruatingly sluggish, it jumps and
scrolls instead of smooth scrolling). I set the smooth
scrolling option on in the internet properties, reloaded
internet explorer 6, ran my virus checker (sophos) all to
no avail. Please help !

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).
