Scrolling problem after installing XP patches

Hi!

I just installed a bunch of critical (says Microsoft)
updates for Win XP, and now my IE6 browser is messed up.
When I click the vertical scroll bar (on the right hand-
side) to go up/down the page, it scrolls up/down TWO
pages at a time, instead of just one. Just as if I had
clicked the mouse button twice, but I didn't. How to fix
that?

Thanks!

Pete

Position cursor 'close' to the top/bottom of the
slider bar and it should scroll one window.
Use the mouse wheel to scroll.....as applicable
See mouse properties (Wheel tab) to adjust
Press/Hold/Slide actual slider-bar
Up/Down Arrows (Single line!!!)
Left/Right Arrows (<---Very Slooow--->)
Pageup/Pagedown (Too obvious???)
SpaceBar = down one page (Sometimes)
Shift+SpaceBar = up one page (Sometimes)
Home/End (Top line/Bottom line -- wow)
R-click scroll area.....menu....select option

That's the problem - it keeps jumping TWO pages at a time regardless where I
position the cursor. Any ideas how to change that?

I know I can use the wheel or keyboard keys to scroll, but I am very much
used to hitting the left-mouse button for that task.

Thanks!

Hi,
Caused by a bug in the Q824145 patch. Click just under the slider in the
scrollbar or drag the slider.

You can uninstall the update and wait for the next one, but you'll be
re-opening a security hole.

Yep, that's one of the patches I installed today. Thanks! How would I go
about uninstalling it?

Thanks!

It will be in Control Panel> add/remove programs. That patch does fix a
security vulnerability. I uninstalled it on my system, but you should
realize you're making that choice.

I am having the same problem.
But, I do not have Q824145 installed. I do have KB824141 and KB824146.
Could either of these be the culprit?

Check again....look at IE... Help.. About....

If it's listed there, then look for "Internet Explorer Q824145" in the Add/Remove listing.

Are you absolutely sure you don't have it? I didn't see it at first on my
W2K machine but finally I realized that the patch also created a double
scroll in the add/remove programs window and was skipping over the listing!
I would go back and use the arrow keys to scroll through the list.

Funny thing is, this particular patch is not showing up under "Add/Remove
Programs" like all the other patches (another bug?). However, when I check
my Windows Update History page (Microsoft's site), it clearly indicated that
I did successfully install it.

I'd have to have to do System Restore to get rid of it. Is there another
way to kill it maybe?

Thanks!

Pete

You were right. By scrolling through the add/remove programs, I came across
it. Deleted and restored the previous settings and everything is hunky-dory
now. Thanks

Steve.
