Script errors and images not displaying

I run on Windows XP Home Ed. As of today, all of the updates are installed
and there are no viruses, trogjans, etc. on my computer.

Every time I start up MSN Messenger-and even if its to just load my contact
list-I get a script error that reads:

An error has occurred in the script on this page

Lin 1
Char 207
Error Unterminated string constant
Code 0

Then of course it askes me if I want to continue running scripts on this page.

Second of all, when Im on my daily internet sites such as myspace.com,
yahoo.com, and jcpenny.com-the images dont load-period. I wind up with white
pages and links everywhere, no pictures.

What is going on and how do I fix this? It only started maybe a few days
ago...

Thanks

Turn off script debugging. Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options

Turn off McAfee Privacy if you have it.

I do have Privacy Service, but it hasnt been on because it's corrupt and I am
working on getting it back on the computer. I've never had a problem with it

In response to something that Rock pointed out:

I didn't bother to tell any of you what I had already done. I actually
logged onto this site and read through all the previous questions/answers to
the problem I was having. I honestly thought that everyone did that before
they posted a question on here as to not sound like the proverbial broken
record and to waste everyone's time sifting through the same things over and
over again.

I had found that someone else was having the same problem as I and checked
all of the things that they were told to check, ran all the updates, etc.

I'm terribly sorry, must be the college student in me that researches
everything to the bone as to not make a fool out of herself in a forum of a
subject that she knows virtually nothing about.

Forgive me for being so studious.

Kudos to you for doing that - it would be good if everyone followed your
lead - a bunch of problems would be solved without posting here.
Logically though, how are we to know what you read, what you understood
about what you read, what you actually tried and the results, without it
being stated. With no other information to the contrary a normal
response is to assume you didn't and start with the simplest
possibilities. Hopefully the other posts will point you to a solution.

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...43-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

(WinXP users who have problems with 2a and 2b, see
http://www.mvps.org/archive/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm)

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

5b. Find the hijacker that caused 5a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):
