Hi,

A screensaver only comes on when the system is idle, so something about
Norton's active scanning is causing too much activity for it to start. Check
your program settings, as they may be too aggressive, the defaults usually
are.

I run Norton SystemWorks 2004 with anti-virus in it. I left the
settings default. There is no problem with my screensaver coming on
or the monitor shutting down after the specified time. I am just
guessing, but I am thinking it is possible that he changed it to a
higher security setting.

As a real unknowing newbie, I did that with 2003, and I'll be darned
if I couldn't get updates anymore (I also did a re-install of Windows
& thus a re-install of SystemWorks, which might have been part of the
problem). & then the anti-virus part of SystemWorks became totally
invisible. Weird. Leave it default. And even with a delete and a
re-install I was screwed - same thing - invisible. (Symantec/Norton
keeps some stuff on your HD no matter what you delete it seems, and
you have to be a tech to get rid of all traces).

Thank goodness the 2004 upgrade was double-rebated and I paid less
than $15 for it & got the Personal Firewall free with it too & a years
worth of updates for it all (gambled and took a chance it would
remedy the situation, which it did).
