My screensaver had been working until about a day to two ago. I have tryed
changing the screensaver to another one and have even reset the time for it
to come on. Nothing has helped.

Troubleshooting Screen Saver Issues in XP

Posting from another user by the name of David:
â€I figured out what the problem is. It's the Microsoft Wireless Mouse. If I switch
the mouse to one with a tail the screensaver works.â€
then David posted again
â€I got a fix. I changed to connection to the computer using the USB to PS2 adapter
that came with the mouse. Now I get the screensaver. I would be interested to find
out why this works.â€

I had exactly the same problem with the computer I bought 10 days ago. I
tried David's post by unpluging the Microsoft Wireless Mouse and re-pluging
the "mouse-with-USB-tail" that came with the computer back in and my problem
went away. I will try to locate a PS2 to USB adapter and try the optical
mouse again. Looks like the optical mouse gives a false signal that it is
moving when it is not.

Thanks a MILLION!!!!

that windows link that was given said that my screensaver problem could be
related to The Human Interface Device Access service. i had run this program
around the time my screensaver stopped working...i dont know if it is still
running and i cannot find where the program is to run it...i am searched for
it and nothing comes up.

i finally found The Human Interface Device Access service on my own. but i
my screensaver still does not come on. my screen saver works on the
non-admin user, but not on my administrator account. i have a mouse with a
tail and it is ps2 connected. i have messed with screensaver turn on times
and the monitor power of times...and still my screen stays on endlessly.

Thank you for your comments re screen Saver not working, I tried your fix and
it worked but only with the adaptor supplied with the mouse. However it then
stopped my keyboard from working, so it seems I can have either one or the
other.
Does any one know of a resolution for this.

Just want to say thank you....i have the exact same problem & could not
figure out for the life of me why my screen saver quit working
..
