Screensaver Marquee font flickers

What could be causing the Marquee font to flicker? I just installed a new
monitor and have windowsXP SP2. Haven't found any other problems.
 
In control panel---display---settings---advanced---monitor---What is refresh
rate set to? Try one step higher.
Do you have latest driver? What if anything running in the background?
 
Thank you. I was running a virus scan in the background. The monitor is at my
son's house. I'll try the refresh. I'll let you know if it works.
 
Stop the virus scan and check.
