Screen size

Let me see if I can articulate this properly. Somehow the size of my viewing
screen has been shrunk down so that it does not fill the size of the monitor.
There are black spaces above and below my viewing screen. Maximizing the
browser will not fix the problem because even after I close all browsers, my
desktop screen is too small. Changing the resolution size under "Display"
doesn't fix it either. I think it needs to be fixed in the BIOS somewhere.
Any suggestions?

It's NOT in the BIOS. It's either the physical screen adjustment OR the
Display Properties.

It isn't either of those, I tried both and neither one fixed the probelm. My
computer had shut downa dn restarted and the screen size was different.
Nothing had changed in the monitor or display settings.

Did you change the video adapter driver? If you "updated" the driver to
an incorrect one, go into Device Manager an Roll back to the correct
one. If this is a CRT monitor, changing the refresh rate in the Display
properties will cause the effect you see.

No, nothing was changed on my computer. It abrubtly shut down on me and when
it restarted, the screen size was different.

Your video card may be failing. Uninstall it and swap it out for a known
working one.
