I had my screensaver set for a 5 minute timeout and power setting to turn off
the monitor after 1 hour. A few months ago it stopped working.
After experimenting I found out that the screensaver would only work if the
timeout was set to 1 or 2 minutes. This would make the screensaver work but
the monitor would not turn off. Occaisonally it works but when I turn the
system off and back on it fails again. Most of the time it does not work.
I've tried a windows repair but that didn't help.
If I run sfc /scannow it fixes the problem until I reboot the computer then
the problem is back.
Any ideas on which system file is getting overwritten/corrupted?
Thanks,
John
