Is it true that screensaver uses a lot of power when turned on?that is not
nessesary to turn it on?
 
No, it's not true.

Screensavers were initially developed to keep a screen image from burning
in. While most modern monitors do not suffer from this malady, if an image
is left long enough it can still happen. If you leave the system running
24/7 like I do, simply set the screen to turn off after 20 minutes or so of
inactivity.
