Hi,
My screen saver won't work in my account (administrator), but it does work
in guest. I want it to work so I can see my pictures automatically in My
Pictures Slideshow. Does anybody have any ideas of why it doesn't work in
my own account? (It used to work, but stopped working when I got a
Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000, but now, it doesn't even
work when I unplug the USB receiver for the mouse.)

I have tried turning off all the options in MS config startup; that didn't
help.

I have tried several of Kelly's Korner tweaks, but none of them helped.

I don't want to reformat, and I don't want to move all of my files into a
newly created user account.

Thanks!

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Under the General tab, place a dot next to "Normal Startup -
load all device drivers and services", click Apply and reboot.

Hi Carey,
That didn't do anything. I already was under normal startup, but I tried
what you told me anyways, and still no screen saver.

Any different ideas? Thanks!

I know its obvious but are you sure the screensaver is activated in
your Admin account. Does the preview work? Been called out to fix this
issue many times and always found the screensaver set to "none".

Yes, it is. It is set to My Pictures Slideshow, set to go off after one
minute, and on resume, password protect is not checked. My power settings
are set to never turn off monitor or hard drive, nor go into standby or
hibernation, whether on AC or battery. My slideshow preview works fine when
I click on preview.

What next?
