Screen Saver using Laptop and externa monitor

I normally use my laptop with an external monitor at work. I have both
monitors running all the time. When I work at home I only have the laptop so
no external monitor. What I have noticed is that every time I take my laptop
home the screen saver stops working. Then when I get back to work and boot
up with the external monitor the screen saver will work. Any ideas what is
causing this?

Do you run on battery only at home? Your power settings may have SS disabled
on battery.
