Can someone tell me how to put an icon on my desktop that will activate my
chosen screen saver? I need to activate it when I leave my desk.

If you are using a standard screen saver, it will be a *.scr file. Find the
file for the screen saver you want, right click and select Send To, Desktop
as Shortcut.

1)Search SCR files in your system.
2) Double click on them to know what file is your screen saver.
3) Create a shortcut on Desktop to the SCR file.

(SCR Files should be located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32).
Regards,

Only a program can start a screensaver. Starting scr file DOES NOT start it as a screensaver but as a normal program.

Why not use the Windows-key+L? (I think that's it - not on Windows at the
moment)

Create a shortcut on the desktop and in the target box put this:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\*.scr where * stands for the file name of the
screensave you use.

Thanks, everyone. I love being connected to the big giant brain in the
ether. Phil, the link you sent worked great because I do have a password on
my screensaver.
The "lockout" would work too, but it's not as pretty. THANKS AGAIN!!

You're welcome! Glad it worked. Now if I could only get those in
charge of policy to allow me to *run* a screen saver....

I have found this free tool to load default screensaver:
http://www.geocities.com/visualfantasy_studio/download/dss.zip
or
http://dl.winsite.com/bin/downl?16000000036297

Extract the EXE to a folder (I suggest c:\windows) and create a shortcut
to it.
