Ive just re-installed Windows XP on my laptop. Why is it
that i either have to have a tiny screen in the middle for
good quality 32bit color?

But when i change the screen resolution to fit the screen
i only get a choice of 8bit? I cant change this either?
and the picture quality etc is crap!

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Laptop computers require specialized drivers only
the laptop manufacturer can provide. Visit the support
website of the manufacturer of your laptop, search for
the Windows XP compatible video adapter drivers,
download and install them.

After installing the new video adapter drivers, reboot your laptop,
then right-click on your Desktop and select Properties > Settings,
and change the Color Quality to "Highest (32 bit), then adjust the Screen
Resolution to your liking.

Then visit http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/default.htm
and click on "ClearType Tuner Updated".

Also, do note that most settings under 800x600 are not going to allow
you to see 32bit color. I highly recommend at least 1024x786 for a
laptop. I know things are smaller, but you will get used to it and it
is much better for websites and programs.
