Hello,
After installing XP HOME, there is only one option (640 x 480) shown in
DISPLAY, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL. Thanks for your help.

Try installing an XP compatible video driver.usually downloadable from your
video card manufacturers website.
Check your other devices that need XP drivers..........sound
card.........modem.....NIC card..??

Your video adapter drivers probably need to be reinstalled.
Visit the support web site of the manufacturer of your video
card adapter and download the latest drivers.

Before installing them, uninstall the old drivers. In your
Control Panel, open the Add or Remove Programs applet
and look for your video drivers to uninstall.

If you happen to have a notebook computer, visit the notebook
manufacturer's support website to download the correct video
adapter drivers for your specific notebook model.

After installing a fresh set of drivers, right-click on your
desktop and select Properties > Settings, change the Color
Quality to "Highest (32 bit), then adjust your Screen Resolution
to your liking, then click on Apply.

Try to run dxdiag.exe - available on MS site if you don't have it; it will
tell you what's wrong.
Anyway, you need the K2/XP video card and display drivers installed. Follow
the drivers manufacturer instructions and don't forget to uninstall (better
yet, run a graphics driver cleaning tool - google for some) the old drivers;
disable any antivirus while installing the graphics card drivers.
Sometimes, the order in which you install the drivers makes a noticeable
difference.
For common hardware configurations, the order should be:
1. Mobo chipset drivers (USB)
2. DirectX
3 Graphics
4. Monitor
5. Kboard, Mouse (if other than default)
6. WIFI, modem
7. Printer
8. Audio
9. Check device driver issues in Device Manager
