Screen Flickering

I have an old Bridge Game. It worked fine on my Windows 98 computer. It
works fine on a friend's new Dell computer. On my Acer Laptop (1.4 Centrino)
it causes the screen to flicker in an annoying manner. I have tried the
Contemporary? Mode but no improvement. Any ideas?

Have a look through the options in the menus. There may be a video option eg
to repaint the screen after every trick, that you can turn off /on.

It may have something to do with your Settings in Display - has the Dell
only got 16 and 32 bit choices.
I have some simple games I used to play on my old 98 system - can't play any
on my current XP with 32 or 16 - have to use the GPU manager to set 8 bit
and then only one or two will play.
There is an even lower setting(forgot the figures) which is required for
some old games.
But lots of these games have been made XP compatible I believe.
Some are free to download.
Does the notebook have integrated graphics - that might make a difference.
If no luck here, try the hardware or games newsgroups.
