Why do I have shadows next to all my text lines? This occurs no matter what
dialogue box or program I have open.

Can you give a more detailed description of the problem? "Shadows" and
"text lines" don't give me a very good picture by themselves.

Perhaps send a link to a screenshot? (Don't include attachments on
text-only newsgroups).

Finally, have you done something to your computer recently that may have
initiated this change? Installed new software, hardware, ...

With an unpatched Internet Explorer flaw around, I would rather click on a
file that go to an unknown website to see a .jpg.

It sounds like you have trailing shadows off of text which is usually
caused by a bad monitor. If possible try a different monitor to see if
that will fix it.
