I thought earlier versions of Windows shipped with a small program to do
screen capture including movies of action on screen. Is that program still
available and if it isn't what is it's name? Thanks for the help

You can use the Print Screen key to capture the image on your monitor. Use
ALT+Print Screen to capture the active window only.

Next, open MS Paint and select Edit Paste to paste the image into Paint.
Save the image from there as a file.

The Print Screen button (on the keyboard) will copy the
current screen image to the paste buffer from which you
can Edit / Paste into Word or Paint . . . Alt/Print Screen
captures the active window only . . . other than that am
not aware of another capture mechanism . . . Good Luck !

This I knew about. I was looking for a more advanced functionality. Thanks
for your responses.

There are plenty of free screen capture programs around that do have
advanced features. Here are a couple found with a quick Google search.
