I'm using windows XP home for about 3 months. Suddenly my screen went to all
lines and the mouse cursor changed to a square of lines (looking similar to a
bar code). Only thing I could do was reset. After doing this about a week
my system crashed. Took it back to the place I purchased it, windows xp
reinstalled and all running good. Brought it home and on the 1st start up
screen goes all lines again. Take it back, plugs it in works fine. (Now he
thinks I'm losing it) I've unplugged the scanner, printer and only have the
mouse, keyboard, and monitor. All of which are the same when the system was
new and worked fine. Still does the same thing, only it seems to happen only
every other time it is booted up. Very annoying. Not real computer savvy
but I know it's not right. Any help????

Check for loose cables, especially on the video. Remove the cover and reseat the video card.
Are you plugging the monitor cable in AND tightening the thumbscrews too? Hand tight, then
loosen 1/4 turn.
