Schedule within a worksheet

How to put a schedule within an existing worksheet. I want to have three
columns in five rows within a worksheet. The five rows are preceeded with
rows that have one column. I want just one section (those 5 rows) to have
three columns. Is this possible?

This question has been asked several times and the short answer is "No".
But there are ways to work around it. It depends on how your worksheet is
laid out and what you are trying to accomplish. Merging cells can be done,
although not recommended do to sorting, moving data, and many many other side
effects. "Center across selection" is another possibility. It really
depends on what you have got and what you want.
