scanning slides for Power Point presentation

We are in the process of creating a digital database for our slide
collection. We have a question as to what the image size should be for our
images. What resolution should we scan at or what Pixel size should we scan
at.

For use in PowerPoint, it depends on how you'll use the presentation.

If as a screenshow, then you'll want full-frame images to have the same number
of pixels as the highest resolution video display you'll use to display the
show. Or a bit more, for safety.

That's a longwinded way of saying "Who can tell?", since like as not you don't
know how the presentations will be used a few years down the road, or on what
equipment. 1024x768 is more or less standard now but that could change.

"Digital database" suggests that you have more uses in mind than just PPT shows
though. If so, fill in some more details and we'll see what comes of that.
