I want to scan old photos (not digital) to be used in a still movie. I would
appreciate it any information on what format these photos should be saved in
and how this would work best.
Thank you

This would depend on many things. First and foremost, whatever application
you would use to build your movie would be the place to start. Find out
what formats it will accept. I would recommend scanning in a lossless
format...such as .TIF without any compression.
Next, what resolution will your movie be...320x240, 640x480, 720x480?
Color or black and white?

For video work, you would require no more than 150 LPI for smaller formats.
