I have many 35mm Ilford HP5+ negs accumulated over years of having a
chemical darkroom. I need to scan, manipulate and create files I can
send to a book publisher. Any ideas on what I need in terms of
equipment and software to do this. I hear that this type of B&W negs
are difficult to scan because the silver scatters the light. I don't
want to spend any more money than neccesary. I am fairly computer
literate. Please email me your response.
Thanks George

For scanning B&W negatives you need a good film scanner.
The Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV is a good low cost film scanner for 35mm
film and slides.
It does not have Digital ICE, but ICE does not work correctly on silver
based film.

The Minolta Scan Dual IV scanner comes bundled with all the software you
need, It includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and the Scanner driver
software. Photoshop Elements 2.0 is a easy to use limited version of the
much more expensive Photoshop CS.
