Scanner doesn't work

I have a Umax 2100U scanner and I can`t get any image.
The scanner works but all I get is a black image. This
happens with the correct drivers from Umax web page, and
also with the WIA drivers. I have uninstalled all the
drivers and try one more time with WIA drivers (they work
once at the begining), but I can`t get any image at all.
I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

The Umax scans to a temp file before producing the final scan. If that file
becomes corrupt, you get a black or striped scan. It's been years since
I've had a Umax and can't remember the exact location of the file. If I
remember correctly it was in the Umax software folders and had a *.BMP
extension. Possibly "prescan.bmp"

If this is not documented at the Umax tech support site, give their tech
support a call and have them walk you through it.

Thanks Sharon. Umax don`t have any support about Windows
XP.

Hmmm... Maybe that's why I don't have my Umax scanner anymore? Check for
that file named prescan* that I mentioned. If you're nervous about deleting
it, temporarily rename or move it. Then try another scan.
