Scanner buttons

I have a problem in my scanner buttons. I have an hp
scanjet 3500c. The scanner only scans when i run the
software manually, but when i press one of its buttons no
software is being loaded. The scanner is working
properly because i connected it on my friend's pc and it
has worked. It is a new scanner because i have bought it
3 weeks ago. What shall i do to fix this problem?

Post that question in comp.sys.hp.hardware, for starters.
 
Your problem is not related to Microsoft or Win XP, use the newsgroup that was suggested.
 
If your ISP doesn't carry the recommended newsgroup, you can access them
using Google Groups. Here's a direct link for you:

Also, if these buttons are going to work in XP, the solution is going to be
in the software HP provides for the scanner. HP may have some extra steps
that you have to do to get the software/scanner working just right
together.

I have an HP 4470c and its buttons will call up the HP software when
pressed. It takes that software about 30-60 second to show up but it does
appear eventually. Most of the time it's quicker to start the HP program
and then scan.
