As a hold over from the DOS days, we have a scheduled task under Windows XP
Pro to run ScanDisk on a regular basis on all customer systems (we are a
reseller). With today's modern disk drives, is this needed or even a good
idea?

Thanks!

ScanDisk has been replaced with CheckDisk in Windows XP.

Utilize the following Windows XP utility programs, at least monthly, in this order:

OK. The 2nd URLs explain it in terms of someone manuls doing it through the
GUI.

Do you have URLs that explain how to do this automatically, via task
scheduler? Essentially, need to know the Commnad Line program name,
switches and return codes.

Addtionally, is there a way to automatically looks at the Analyze result to
determine if a defrag is necessary?

Thanks!
