Good afternoon,
I'm trying to run scan disk on my c drive on my Win2k
desktop. If I check "fix errors", it gives me an error
saying that it does not have exclusive access to the
drive. If it's not checked everything works, but it
doesn't fix the errors. I went into task manager and
stopped all the programs that I could (the others said it
was a system critical program). If any one knows what to
do, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your
time.

Check both options, and the disk check will take place after
next reboot.
The boot, including the disktest will take long time (over 10
mins).

Win 2k does not have scandisk. It uses chkdsk. You will need to enable the
"fix errors" and reboot before it runs.
Chkdsk can only run before Win 2k loads so it will run first thing after the
reboot and before the OS loads.

If you had read the entire message you'd see that you were given the
opportunity to run the error check after the next reboot. Do that.
