In win2000, system may scan disk automatically some times with previous
abnormal shutting down. What't the mechanism for this feature? Can I apply it
on XPe?

THANKS.

Nightman,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager],"BootExecute"
Set it to something like "autocheck autochk /i \??\C: autocheck autochk *"

Thanks KM.
But I can't evoke the auto scanning yet after plugging off power directly.
Could you explain some details about this mechanism?
How does the system detect the last abnormal shutting down?

Nightman,

All necessary info you will find here: http://www.buildorbuy.org/dirtybit.html.

Try to play with chkdsk utility to see if you can schedule scandisk on boot.

Also, add "NTFS Management Utility" component to your image and use Fsutil tool at run time. Some documentation on it:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...WINDOWSXP/home/using/productdoc/en/fsutil.asp
Launch the utility with "dirty" command line switch set to see the state of the volume dirty bit.
