At the very least, after every three of four revisions consider turning the
feature off and doing a save-as to strip the file of the old versions and
cut down on the likelihood of corruption. Save the old copies with the
versions enabled in an archival folder.
How about track changes (which also needs cleaning up from time to time). It
can show you who made what changes (or at least on which computer they were
made). This can be set up so that the revisions are not normally shown on
screen or printed but can be shown or printed when needed.
Again, doing this on all of your documents is going to produce major
headaches.

Is there a better tool available for version tracking within small teams?
We have a few individuals who are fanatic about revisions and doc ownership.
BTW, I discovered that my problem was only within about 10% of our
templates. The setting does reside within the template and would work.
