Hi

Hope this isn't a dumb question...

When I exit a workbook , Excel is asking me if I'd like to save changes
, even when I haven't made any!

Sometimes I have several open and it's a pain to be asked this for every
single one. I need to be asked if I want to save when I've made a change
, but don't need it when I haven't...

Is there anyway I can switch this off?

Best Wishes

Colin, Some functions in excel are "volatile", they will re-calculate every
time excel is opened, this will make the worksheet change even if you don't
make any changes.

Have a look here for a list

Hi Paul

OK thanks I had a look at the article.

My problems is that this seems to happen with EVERY file I open. I can
open a workbook and then close immediately and I get this message asking
me if I'd like to save my changes. This happens always - even with the
simplest ones.

I understand the issue of volatility , but I think maybe I have
something set somewhere which is causing this.
