Saving pics

Hi,
I don't know why but now when i save a picture off the
net it always saves it as a .bmp. It does it for all
types of pic formats .jpg, .gif and what makes it worse
is it titles them all 'untitled.bmp' how do i fix it so
that the pics im trying to save will save with the format
that they actually are on the site and with the actual
title.

but didn't find this the whole microsoft help thing is
one great big maze that i am yet to figure out.
