How can I just drag and drop several messages from outlook to my hard
drive, keeping them in the .msg format or text format? Thanks.

If you have windows explorer open to the folder you want to save the msg
files, you should be able to drag and drop them in the folder. I have been
saving messages this way for several years with no problems (except mail
files having the same name)

This does not work with Outlook. There are no msg files in Outlook. Maybe you
have Outlook Express, which is no relation to Office's Outlook.

Select the ones you want to copy and drag them to a Windows folder. Despite
what Mary says, they'll copy as .msg files.

Umm... No, I do have outlook 2003. Since we use exchange server, that came
with it. Before that I had Office Pro XP, outlook was also included in
that. I assure you I have tasks, contacts, calendar and all the other
'nice' features of outlook.

I have for many past years been able to drag and drop .msg files from
outlook to explorer folders. Maybe you are using OE?
