Hi!

I'm using Outlook 2003 and have to re-setup my my whole system (formatting
partition). Therefore it would be usefull to save my Mail Account Settings
like it is possible in Outlook express in an ".iaf"- file. Is there any
possibility? Also I would like to save all my Contacts like in Outlook
express in a ".WAB"-file, not several vcards... Could anyone give me a
precise hint? Thank you!

Ask once and wait for an answer.

Your mail account settings are kept in the Windows Registry in the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WIndows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\yourprofilename. It's conceivable that you
could export that key and import it into the registry later, but I don't
believe it will retain passwords. The Office Save My Settings Wizard may
also be able to accomplish it, but I have no experience with that.

As to saving Contacts, your Contacts and all other Outlook data is kept in a
single data store. If youre account is an Exchange account, the data store
is usually your Exchange mailbox. If youre account is a POP account, your
data store is your PST. With Outlook closed, just burn your PST to a CD.
Later, you can get everything back by copying it back to hard disk (taking
care NOT to overwrite any PST of the same name), remove the read-only
attribute, and reconnect to it in Outlook with File>Open>Outlook Data File.

Thank you and sorry for posting 2 times, I got an error message and so I did
it again... I see no possibility to delete the other one, isn't it?

Using a real newsreader instead of the web interface will eliminate the
error problem and also give you the ability to delete posts you've made
previously.
