saving image files -- no .jpg option???

I used to be able to save images from the web as .jpg
files -- which seemed to be the original default. For some
reason i am only now able to save images as .bmp. The
pull down menue where ordinarily you can change the file
type you might "save as" only gives me one option --
.bmp.

Can anyone provide me with the process of restoring the
save as .jpg feature in IE6?

to internet explorer on the left side , that is in the
