Saving Email Messages to Hard Drive-Outlook Saves Extra Files

Recently purchased new copmuter with Office Professional 2007 preinstalled.
When I save emails using Save As, Outlook adds another subdirectory; _files
which contains:-colorschememapping.xml;filelist.xml and themedata.thmx. If I
try to delete them, it also deletes the file I saved. I have an older
computer with the same version of Office but never had this problem.

Help!

Two questions - is this a Dell and if you are using POP email then your
messages already ARE saved on your HDD - why would you want to duplicate the
process?

Hi Gprdon,

No, it's not a Dell machine. I had two machines made privately at the same
time. One for work and one for home with slightly lower specs. The price
included two OEM copies of Office Professional 2007. The one at home allows
me to save emails to the hard drive without any other files being added, as I
have done for years. The work machine/Offie 2007 adds the extra files.

I need to save the emails to the relevant project subdirectories on my hard
drive, so I can easily access the emails that relate to that project up to
five years in the future.

Hi,
You have to select the *.mht as file format if you want to save to a single
file...
