Saving data while upgrading system

I have windows 98, and am about to install XP.
How do I save my address book, links, dial up numbers,
etc, during the upgrade?

Well, you actually do it before the upgrade by whatever means is available
to you. Burn them to CD, copy them to ZIP disk, copy them to diskette(ick),
transfer them over a network to another machine, transfer them via
USB/firewire to another machine/drive and so on.
