Saving data from corrupted reg-xp repair will not execute

can the hard drive be removed and installed as 2nd drive, then access the
drive and download files? anyone done this, will it work?

I have done it!
I place the HD in the place of the cd drive.

Erwin no roblemdoing this/ assume you make hard drive a 'slave' then reboot
and just access data and save????
 
Yes.

You can also place the hard drive in a USB enclosure, a box that connects
IDE devices to a USB interface, then connect the box to a USB port on the
computer. For speed, you should get a USB 2.0 enclosure, not USB 1.1.
