saving cut items on office clipboard

Do the items that are posted to office clipboard get saved to the document or
once the document is closed are those items that were "cut" lost?
 
Not exactly. The last cut item will remain on the clipboard and can be
pasted into another document or application.

Also, it is not closing the Document, or even closing Word, that triggers
deletion of the Office clipboard - it is closing all Office applications.

And not even that. You have to go as far as shutting down Windows to delete
the last cut item from the clipboard.

In which case, undoing the cut action(s) in the source application(s) would
be another possibility.
