After I create a new header or footer is it possible to save it so I don't
have to retype it each time I start a new document?

Thanks to all who are willing to share their knowledge with others!

Save the file as a template in the templates directory and then use File>New
and select that template as the basis for the documents that you wish to
create

See the article "Creating a Template - The Basics (Part I)" at:

and "Creating a Template (Part II)" at:

Or save the specific header information as an AutoText entry.
