Saving a backup of an Excel file

In Office 2000 and Office 95 Excel, I could have the
computer make automatic backups of my Excel files as they
were saved.

I don't seem to be able to do this in XP even though on
the tools menu at Save As... in Options it has a check box
for backup.

Any help with this????
