Have 2003, saved to my F drive. When I go to open it, I get the .pst message
and just how do I want to open it? Any help would be appreciated.

Firstly only Outlook can open a pst file so if you are trying to open it by
double-clicking in Windows Explorer it won't work. You have to open it
within Outlook by doing File-Open-Outlook Data File.
Secondly it's not advisable to open a pst file on an external drive anyway.
Outlook needs continual read/write access to the file, and if there is even
a tiny blip of connectivity while Outlook is doing that, there is a very
real chance of corrupted data.

Gordon,

Outlook is not one of my choices to use to open it. When I choose force
Outlook it sends me to Outlook homepage...thanks for your patience with me!

So open Outlook then within Outlook do File-Open-Outlook Data File...

Gordon,

There is no File option on the Outlook home page. Thanks.

Try searching for Outcmd.dat with Outlook closed, (it might be a hidden
file), delete it then re-launch Outlook

Gordon,

Searched for Outcm.dat incl hidden files--no results. Perhaps I should have
Wizard resave my Outlook onto the remote drive? Thanks.

Um, home "page"? So just WHAT are you using as your e-mail client? Are
you using Outlook (a program that runs on YOUR host) or are you using a
web browser to connect to a site that loads the Outlook Web Access (OWA)
page to your company's Exchange mail server?

Just how did you get from the Outlook *application* mentioned in your
first post to a web page mentioned now?

UM, in my first post I was discussing a problem opening a saved Outlook
(1.3GB). The hard drive would not allow me to open what I had saved; a
".pst".
file. My original question was how to open a ".pst" file. My Outlook
program on my C drive is just fine; I simply cannot open my saved version on
the F drive.

Go Daddy is my company browser. When I right click on the saved Outlook
Office Data file, on my F drive, it doesn't like the ".pst" and won't let me
open it, though I have tried with every option it offers me. I'm a new CEO
without a Secretary for the first time in 38 years, I'm trying to learn, so
please forgive my naivete!! Thanks.

Okay, so web servers are not involved here, just the Outlook
application.

Did "There is no File option on the Outlook home page" mean to say that
you started Outlook (outlook.exe) and there was no File item in the menu
bar?

Is that a typo? The file is "Outcmd.dat" with a "d" in it.
The location is C:\Users\{your use name}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook -
assuming Vista

Err what "wizard" and what do you mean by "resave my Outlook onto the remote
drive"?

Did Beech mention he is using Vista? That's the userprofile path for
Vista. It's different in different versions of Windows.

he didn't mention any OS at all. I know it's different in other versions.
That's why I wrote "assuming Vista".

Outlook isn't a web browser and doesn't have a "home page". To what exactly
are you referring? Did you click Start>All Programs>Microsoft
Office>Microsoft Office Outlook and start Outlook?
