we have windows 98 on our computers, and have started to replace them with lap tops. however the laptops come with works suite 2004 and will not open any excel files that we have saved from the stand alone computers. Can any one tell me if there is a way to open them. or if we save them as something different so that we can then open them
thank yo

As far as I know, you can't open XL files in Works. You
can download an XL viewer to see the files, but won't be
able to update them without buying MS Office.

I think however that, if you still have the stand alone computer available,
you can save the Excel file as a works file ? (.wks exstension ?)
You will then be able to open it within works. It is however possible that
you lost part (or maybe large parts) of the functionality of the Excel file.
