When I try and save a word 97 doc as html I get a message that the html
converter is not the latest for this version of word. Any suggestions to get
this working much appreciated.

Hi Bill,

There is an updated Word 97 web authoring toolkit
available from
http://microsoft.com/downloads/deta...55-7513-4330-b234-49b89706078d&DisplayLang=en

Try that first. There are also a couple of error conditions
that can generate that message.

Hi Bob
Many thanks for your speedy reply. I had already tried that exe but reloaded
it again anyway. The following is the actual message I get:
'The selected converter is an old version which does not work with the
current version of Word. Reinstall the converter and try again'.
I have also installed a couple of service releases without success.
Any further suggestions most welcome.
Thanks
Bill

Hi Bill,

This one can come up in some odd scenarios, such as
this one.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;195689&fr=1

Have you changed the installed feature set of Office 97?
If so, then you may need to reapply the Service Releases
as they tended to 'disconnect' somewhat prior to the
use of the MSI installation software by MS starting with
Office 2000.

This one can also come up if the registry is a bit off
for the Word web authoring features.
If you turn on [x] confirm conversions at open
in Tools=>Options=>General then use File=>Open to
open a simple .htm file does it open correctly and
can you then resave it to a new file name?

Hi Bob
Sorrry it's me again. I upgraded form winb95 to 98 some while ago but I do
remember reloading Windows forsome reason a year or two back. Well, I tried
to open an html document in Word, after making the change you suggested, but
no joy and the same old error message. May I be a nuisance and ask for more
advice. I am not very good on registries etc but OK if it's straightforward
instructions
Thanks a lot
