I used to have a program that saves a webpage as a desktop type icon. Can
someone tell me the proper filename or where I can find it? Thanks.

Using IE, make your browser smaller than full page. Grab the icon in
the upper left corner of the browser (left end of the title-bar). Drag
it to the desktop. You now have a shortcut to the page the browser
was on. Is that what you wanted? (If you want to save the actual web
page, File/Save As.)

Yes and no. I wanted the icons to have a more realistic look than merely
the website's general icon.

Are you planning to read the webpage icon with a magnifier? ;-)

Do you mean the FavIcon.ico that is stored in your Temporary Internet Files?
It's a special icon for a specific website that is used when you bookmark
the website.

If so, you might do like I do... I copy the FavIcon.ico file (from my Temp
Int Files) into a folder called ICONS and modify the shortcut (bookmark) to
use that icon instead of the default. Then just copy the shortcut/bookmark
to your desktop.

HTH.

You can save yourself a lot of effort by using the small free FavOrg
prog which does all this for you and has an update feature too. I can
post a link to it on my webspace if you want.
