Wow, sorry to sound like just a jerk, but these suggestions are stabs
in the dark and are of no help.
Doing a search on Microsoft Knowledge base doesn't turn up anything of
value, either.
So, here is how I fixed it for Word 2003.
Add/Remove programs and select Microsoft Office, then click change.
You'll want to Add or Remove Features. Once you get to the Choose
update options for applications and tools, expand Microsoft Office
Word, expand Wizards and Templates. The item you want to add is More
Templates and Macros.
Once that is added go to Start>Run and paste in the following...
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Winword.exe" /a "C:
\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Macros\Support.dot"
Now, this runs a support template written by Microsoft to assist with
clearing out the normal.dot, Word Start-up files, Com-addins and
registry entries. All can be easily rolled back if needed. I cleared
everything and my problem went away.
Keep in mind, word must be closed when you do this. I would check the
processes in your Task Manager and make sure Winword.exe is not
running before you run the Support Template.
