"Save Picture As..." returns bitmap option only

My IE 6 SP1 browser sometimes only allows me to save
pictures on a web page as bitmap only, even though the
pictures are jpg or gif. Thanks.
 
The usual fix is to clear your cache.
IE-Tools-Internet Options-Delete Files (in the TIF section)

That seems to work about 98% of the time but if it doesn't, close IE
and reopen and do it again. Also it has been reported that clear
cookies helps, but ensure you save any that you need.

Try the following and see if it helps.

JPG's will only save as BMP's
