I just want to save/move a whole bunch of Outhouse MAIL FOLDERS to a CD and
free up my alloted space.

Why can there not be simple move instructions from pt A to Disk Drive D?.

Why is MS insane in the membrane? Are they no longer human kind with linear
thinking logical minds?
Where o where hast thou simple drag & drop ease of use go?
I need help before I have a heart attack.

Same way as you are backing up, you can also do this with a selected
pst-file to which you have archived your items. To even further accommodate,
you can use the AutoArchive feature which will create an archive pst-file
for you based on your archive settings. Once you've backed up this archive
(pst-file) you can remove it from your hard disk and Outlook will
automatically create a new one for you.

Backup instructions can be found at;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

AutoArchive can be set in;
Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> AutoArchive...

Depending upon your type of mail account, there ARE simple instructions. The
procedure is no different than copying your PST file to CD as long as you
close Outlook first. However, you are likely to be unable to read them from
the CD drive since the file will be marked read only once it's burned. Also,
it is required that the PST file be kept locally on the PC since Outlook
requires constant read/write access to the file in order to avoid corruption.

If you are using an Exchange account, simply add the personal folders to
your account and drag and drop the emails/folders there. To add personal
folders to Outook if you have an Exchange mail account, simply use the mail
applet in the control panel. Note that once the emails are removed from your
Exchange mailbox, they will no longer be included in the nightly backups.
What that means is that if your computer crashes, the contents of the
harddrive may not be recoverable. Very few places of business run backups on
individual PC's or laptops because it's more trouble and expense than it's
worth to reinstall everything.

If you are currently using a PST because you have a POP3 mail account,
simply create another one and drag and drop what you want into it. I would
assume you're using an older version of Outlook if you wish to do this since
newer versions can accommodate much larger PST files.

What alloted space are you refering to?
