Save Location of HTM file with the same name as a DIRECTORY

I have a directory named test and would like to save the test.htm
outside the test directory, not within it. When I try to save
test.htm outside the test directory, it automatically opens the test
directory in order to save it there. Is there a way to remedy this
besides renaming the file.

I'd rather have this:

http://www.example.com/test.htm

and not:

http://www.example.com/test/test.htm

Appreciate any solution suggested. Thanks in advance.

Please explain your directory structure, as you must be working within a web / site?

In your example, your Front Page web (see Front Page
help) would be named "example". This directory/folder is
called the "root" of your Front Page web.

In the second part of your example, you have a
subdirectory/folder or subweb named "test" under
the "example" subdirectory/folder.

Just like any file, an HTM may be placed in any folder on
your computer. These files can even have the same name as
the folder in which they reside.

Computer 101 (ie, this applies to most modern computer
programs and is not specific to Front Page):

When you File | Save and assuming the file has already
been saved at least once, the program will automatically
store the file in its current location overwriting the
older version of the file. This is probably what you are
observing.

If you want to save the file to another location, use the
File | Save As option. This will make another copy of the
file in the new location and leave the old file in its
original location. You probably aren't wanting to do this
from what I understand of your question

If you want to simply move the file to the new location,
use the Folder view in Front Page (NOT Windows Explorer)
and drag the file to the new location. Front Page will
then update any links involving the file for you. This is
probably want you want to do from what I understand of
your question.

Thanks to everyone with their input. A simple drag & drop within FP
was what I needed to do.

I had originally named the file as something slightly different than
the directory [test_wip.htm] and when I wanted to 'save as' test.htm it
opened the test directory. I temporarily saved it there and just
dragged the file back to the root. I didn't want to manually rename
it from within Explorer.

Thanks again.

You should never use Windows Explorer / My Computer to manage any content within a FP web, as FP
will not be aware of any content changes.
